The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment or advanced training in the Information Technology field, with a primary focus on CompTIA A+ certification preparation. Students gain hands-on experience in installing, configuring, securing, and troubleshooting computer hardware, operating systems, and network connections.

The curriculum emphasizes practical, transferable IT skills along with communication, teamwork, and employability skills needed in today’s technology workforce. Instruction includes computer assembly and maintenance, mobile and desktop operating systems, file and directory management, system performance, and safe work practices.

This program is structured around four occupational completion points (OCPs) that build a strong foundation in IT fundamentals and progress toward full CompTIA A+ certification readiness. Completers are prepared for positions such as computer support specialist, help desk technician, or IT field service technician, or may continue into advanced IT training pathways at George Stone Technical College.
