This program offers a sequence of courses that provides a thorough understanding of all aspects of hair, skin, and nails.  The program consists of hybrid computerbased theory lessons and handson practical lessons.  Each student will receive a stateof theart Cosmetology kit, complete with mannequins to train with, prior to working with clients in our Salon and Spa clinical lab.  Focus is given to personal skills, as well as theory and practical skills; professionalism; employability skills; business skills; problem solving; communication; and all other occupation specific skills.  The Cosmetology  program prepares students for employment as licensed Cosmetologists.

Cosmetologists, also known as hairstylists or hairdressers, are fully licensed to practice skin care and nail care as well.  Students will gain experience in waxing, facials, makeup, and nail enhancements.  Students will interact with the  Department of Business and Professional Regulations to ensure an understanding of the rules and regulations surrounding the cosmetology industry.  Course content includes, but is not limited to, life skills; anatomy and physiology; first aid; electrical safety; bacteriology; diseases and disorders of the hair; skin and nails; hair styling; coloring; chemicals; cutting; and extensions.

In order to take the Florida Cosmetology State board examination, students must successfully complete the Cosmetology program, obtain a certificate in HIV/AIDS training, and self report a background report.

Note: Interview with the instructor is a prerequisite to enrollment.
