Basic Recruit Training Program for Florida Correctional Officer

This program offers jobrelated training to students that require certification, in accordance with Chapter 943, Florida Statutes (F.S.) and Chapter 11B35, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.) as full time Correctional Officers.   The content includes, but is not limited to, Criminal Justice values and ethics; professionalism; constitutional rights;  interpersonal communication; search and seizure; radio procedures; contraband; security; inspections; fingerprinting; supervision, care, custody, and control of inmates within a correctional institution.  In order to obtain certification as a Correctional Officer, students must be accepted into and successfully complete the program, pass the State Officer Certification Examination (SOCE), and be employed by a law enforcement agency.

Program Length: 445 Hrs.

 

Course Prerequisites

  • School District Recognized Accredited High School Diploma or GED

  • A physical training pre-test is required

  • Criminal Justice Basic Abilities Test - CJBAT ($40)

  • Fingerprint Card processed by FDLE and FBI ($55)

  • Physical exam with EKG Results and Drug Screen (cost varies with each doctor)

  • One (1) day orientation process
